>>44328934The betas anger shills because they represent how Pokemon could have been different. It's evident in all games since gen 6 that the concept/beta stage of the games had more to them in terms of plot/mechanics. Acknowledging that the betas are in fact what could have been only proves that the main series didn't have to turn into what it's become, they very well could have kept their targeting audience of children without resorting to nostalgiabait to secure sales from lonely manchildren. The games could have interesting lore/features but it's ultimately better for them to cut it because they have 3 gens in development at the same time and overall don't give a shit anymore.
Shills consider it a personal attack of the highest offense if you recognize this which is why they're trying so desperately to convince people that the target audience hasn't changed or that the current state of the series is fine. They will turn a blind eye to blatant and huge issues like Swsh's climax or the manga's struggle to keep up with the release schedule because it's what their influencers like Merrick have told them. The truth is they don't give a shit either. News reporters/shilltubers only care that a game comes at all so they can report and stream it while it's the new cool toy. The quality doesn't matter for them, if it's new then it's guaranteed views. Just like how game journalists like when games are short and easy so they can complete it quickly and move on, they don't like video games. The shills are a byproduct of this.
