It says a lot that the last opponent to give Ash an actual meaningful loss where his whole team was built up and powerful was Alain, who is also a member of the Masters 8 that Ash fought down to the last mon neck and neck before. Further cementing his rightful place up there. Especially now that he's succeeded where he failed by also beating someone he fought before as well.
Ash absolutely belongs here and you not getting your oddly specific fanboy dream matches will not change that. Get over it already. It's not like you're gonna stop watching anyways.
