>>38310086Fuck me I LOVE Pokken. It’s the game I’ve always wanted, albeit stuffed with a few too many shillmons.
>dead gaemIt factually isn’t. Do your homework, I’m not here to convince you otherwise.
>guhhh too complexIt factually isn’t. Put in even 50% effort and you’ll stomp kids.
>b-b-but muh rosterYou fuckin got me. Two Mewtwo and two Pikachus hurt the launch version really bad. But since the advent of DX we’ve got some EXTREMELY interesting and fun-to-learn characters, namely Scizor and Empoleon, that honestly make the roster feel much more satisfying and breathe new life into the game. If you’ve always wanted to kick mad ass using one of your favorites, and one of your favorites is in the game, (for me, it’s Weavile) it’s absolutely worth buying. I am by no means a fighting game fag but the feeling of mastering the unique fighting style of a Pokémon I’ve always loved is more meaningful and fulfilling than almost any other game I’ve played, period.
HOWEVER!
Unless you have real life friends who are willing to play with you, I wouldn’t get it. This game is made for couch co-op, I can’t imagine getting much enjoyment out of it post-story from just fighting randoms online. A few of the characters are extremely frustrating to play against and will totally wall you out until you get a grasp of the mechanics, and I’d imagine many people get sick of it before hey truly blossom into their own style of play if they’re just battling faceless online prodigies.
I cannot recommend this game enough if you have one single friend to play with. The sense of rivalry is so fucking real. Pokken is the best way to play Pokémon if you’re looking to get the heart pounding, hand sweating challenge that the mainline games WILL NEVER AGAIN provide you.
Also, there will guaranteed be a sequel with more mons, and I heavily suspect that it will solidify Pokken more into the mainstream. Up to you if you’re patient enough to wait for it.
