I can see what you're saying here, definitely! I can imagine Hop feeling a bit uncertain about Sword-kun being around Bede. Partly because Bede can match Sword-kun more closely as a Trainer. Partly because, to him, there's something "off" about Bede. He's intimidating, driven, daring, and, quite frankly, rather powerful too. Not that Hop is weak by any means, but it can certainly make him feel "powerless" when someone else more capable comes along. One can only hope Hop realizes that Sword-kun wouldn't ever let anything come between them! And he should also do his best to prevent that, too!
