>>13533685Same. While a helmet does make sense to a certain degree depending on your interpretation of the Pokemon's name's etymology, I've always perceived it to be hair.
I agree about how cartoons (Almost all cartoons that is) aren't particularly good for showing the flow of a person's hair; I mean, look at Jessie! I actually come from /3/, and I can't even begin to tell you how often people ask, "How do I model anime hair/faces?"
>>13534394Before B2/W2 and the Pokedex 3d Pro, we had no way of knowing what the green stuff on top of Gardevoir's head was like. Was it completely rigid? Did it move like hair? I totally agree that it could be perceived as looking like a solid chunk of, erm, something that acted as a helmet. Speaking of hair looking solid, have you looked as Jessie lately, haha? Gen V has all but proven that the green stuff is not a helmet.
The sprites in Black and White 2 clearly show the bottom of her hair moving up and down when s/he's battling. The Pokedex 3d Pro is even more damning evidence for the argument that the green stuff is, in fact, hair of some kind. The animation she performs clearly shows her/him hair moving back and forth/up and down.
There will always be people who consider it to be a helmet, and I don't particularly have a problem with that. I just don't want them yelling at me, "It's not hair!" when a lot of evidence points to the options that, yes, Gardevoir has a full head green hair.
