Yeah the games are boring as heck, I found RPGs with better stories and dropped the main series. Arc the Lad 2 premiered the same year, had monster taming as a side hustle and it was a vastly superior game to any pokemon title released thus far.

Have more heavy duty competitive dudes about and having more branching evolutions so less dexspace is used by useless route one trash is always a plus.

Having an interesting overworld is just as important as having interesting dex. Majority of pokemon's locals are just usual towns

>Arc the lad
Having side missions to flesh out the world made game rather interesting

>Dragon Quest
Having everything be ridable,

What else do you think could be implemented from other series?

Also that's why people get iffy if pokemon become "human" and why the PETA shit gets brought up. That has never even been an after thought with digimon.

Yeah, I never wanted that fantasy, I just wanted to hear a cool story, or see interesting sights more so than anything. Pokemon's games are vastly limited due to that, everything has to be a realistic safe town; I thought they were going to go off the wall with ultraspace, but that's sadly not the case.

In all honesty I wish it was mystery dungeon from the start, I never had a pet, so the fantasy never appealed to me. That's honestly what made me quit pokemon years ago.

Thing is I never wanted to escape and pretend to be in the world I just wanted an interesting story
with interesting gameplay and scenarios.

All of them seemed endearing, but the humans seemed flat as boards and fans were making up headcannnon to make them interesting.

Also I hated that they were depicited as the animals of the world, I wish it was similiar to mystery dungeon where it was a snork/smurf/tmnt/carebear kinda situation where it was a gaggle of monsters living in a town going on adventures and saving dudes.
Or at the very least like "dai no daibouken" where it was both monster and human warriors doing shit.

Truth be told I remember wishing it was like the mystery dungeon world years before it was released.

I eventually just gave up on the series for things that were like the anime and both manga.
Anyone else feel this way about the series?
