Your main coworker/rival's name is Tom, and you will have one more named Charlotte.
The main villain of the game is Éliott. He is the chief in charge of the redevelopment plan, but secretly works together with the evil Pokémon to destroy Luminous city and awaken Yveltal, so he can reconstruct the city in his own vision. (Similar to how Volo "works" with Giratina in LA)
Allope is the new legendary squirrel evil Pokémon (representing Ratatoskr from the myth). He appears as a small mysterious Pokémon that causes disasters around the city and tries to destroy the constructions that is going to happen through the game.
The new battle gimmick has to do with accuracy and power. Similar to how in Legends Arceus you have strong and agile style, in PLZA you will have Focus and Dynamic style. Focus style increases the accuracy/chance to hit but decreases the move power. While Dynamic style increases the power and the chance to hit multiple times (even for moves that are not multiple hit) but lowers the accuracy. If the move accuracy is already 100, you can use still use Focus style when your Pokémon is paralyzed/asleep (to hit the target/wake up faster) or when the opposing Pokémon has increased evasiveness, to hit them.
Floatzel gets a mega-evolution, water/ice, hands and feet get covered in ice, looks like a third-stage evolution, and gains a new ability that has a chance of inflicting "frozen" to the opposing Pokémon when Floatzel is hit with a physical move.
Druddigon also gets a mega, Dragon/Fire, it gets a fire core in the middle of its chest that spreads throughout its body, wings grow bigger and the face gets fire along the tips of the mouth/eyes. The base form also gets a signature move that has a chance of flinching the enemy, if it fails (to flinch) 3 times then it has a chance to flinch Druddigon itself.
