>>45509586I'd say it's likely because status conditions and "your opponents active" effects are more common in expanded. guzma with a deck that has good retreat/switch capability will find it easy to dodge that
>>45509661If you're going for fun you're on the right track. AOR gyarados is very enjoyable, I built a version too only a few months back (with arguably far too much 2-prize draw engine)

tips
-consider running 4 twin and 4 double colourless energy, or think about other energy acceleration (eg frosmoth)
-AOR gyarados pairs well with spikemuth stadium if you build in a lot of switch
-if you go the spikemuth route, consider DAA swanna, Bird Keeper supporter + random receiver
-jynx can help you switch damage counters around which is sometimes useful to keep the damage at the right numbers
-use something to get capes/gyarados out of discard (lanas fishing rod)
-resetting hole marshadow can help you against chaotic swell (if you can fit it)
vivid, wild speculation:
-Stunfisk 56/214 miight be useful in a pinch
-Galarian runerigus might be good for dropping damage counters on the bench to finish things off
-DAA golisopod mite work too
