I know this is a foreign concept to /padt/ but many shippers (at least in Japan) who ship less conventional, vanilla ships don't actually expect/hope that their ship will become canon. They're more than content with just a the occasional scene that can fuel their fantasies. Only the most delusional of them all actually expect their ships to be canon.
