Level 5 had to work for the recognition and poured their hearts and souls into Yokai Watch to show people they can be on par with Pokemon while having their own identity and they were for a while but unfortunately there is no God and we live in an imperfect world. Gamefreak gets to be lazy and still make billions while Level 5 work their assess off to stuff as much content in YW as they can give us but gets relegated as a Pokemon clone and have their popularity steadily decline in the country that use to worship the series.
I know I'm going to come off as a shill but fuck it, YW is a fun, unique and charming series of games with a lot of soul and it doesn't deserve to be overshadowed by a series that's currently only giving you the bare minimum. Go play Yokai Watch 3 if you want to play a game that actually makes you feel like you got your money's worth.
