>>41147076Fuck you, Wooloo is emblematic of all my problems with Pokemon.
It's not that it's a bad design or anything, and it's not that Wooloo caused every problem pokemon has. But it's a symptom of the people I share an interest in.
Sword and Shield, despite all expectations, despite all claims to the contrary, is the worst game in the series from an objective standpoint. Perhaps some of the bugs will be patched out day one. That won't fix that this is going to be, bar none, the easiest, most hand-holdy, most cutscene-heavy game with loads of cut content to boot. It couldn't be more clear this is all due to corporate bullshit, whether it be greed, contractual obligation, or something else like it, because there is no reason that the game should be like this at all. Any concerning consumerbase knows when they're getting ripped off
And yet.
We have people coming out in droves to defend this game, in all it's unfinished, unpolished, unimpressive glory, because apart from all that, it looks pretty. Why, just look at the rounded and soft sheep pokemon, Wooloo! Look at how adorable Galarian Ponyta is! Jeez, someone help Sobble! He's got the b ig sa d. Oh my god, we have to protect Allister! My little mask boy! My darling creepy child!
Nevermind that the Global Trading Center is gone. Nevermind that gamefreak advertised Pokemon Home by saying "Yeah, you won't be able to bring all your pokemon in once you store them in Home. But you MIGHT be able to bring SOME over at a future date! Not all of them, but some of them might make the cut this time." Nevermind that they also lied about game balance and remaking models, so they cut pokemon for absolutely no reason at all. The game has cute monsters and cute girls. That's all that matters to them.
