They region is linear, the trainers carry far less pokemon on average, the champion of the region is a fucking joke compared to Cynthia. It was a massive step down after Platinum which expected much more out of the average player. Pokemon was already a relatively easy JRPG series, but they felt the need to make it that much more simple. Americans just like easy, uncomplicated games that make them feel smart and talented after beating them because they never encountered anything resembling a struggle while playing.
