The plan was for Magikarp to be based on the invasive asian carp in the midwest US, and its evolution would be something resembling a snakehead, which is another invasive species. One in particular notorious for its ability to crawl between bodies of water. I've been brainstorming ideas but I've got nothing concrete yet.
