>>52556461I don't know much about the production but I did watch the show at the time and revisit it later. The show was just a whole lot looser, probably because a strict style guide didn't exist. They'd just do whatever be it a ghost story of a fisherman's widow or a retelling of the 1995 Casper movie. I'm sure the game/anime/TCG production line ensured that later seasons *had* to finish up whatever so Ash could get new Pokemon from the upcoming game to coincide with the rest of the franchise. I wouldn't be surprised if Pokemon got some of the tightest deadlines of a longrunning show
