WARNING: WALLS OF TEXT
Everyone's looking at XYsider because of the XY leaks, wondering if the alien plot really was a thing, so I want to analyze his posts to see how bullshit it is or not. Even though I know a certain suspect will just scream "[FANFIC]!" the whole time. Let's begin, shall we?
>Hi, call me XYSider, and I've come today with some interesting information regarding development content of Pokemon X&Y I've gathered from sources within GameFreak, some currently working their, some former members who went on to other projects after XY, planned content and elements for XY early-on that were cut due to time constraints, or dropped for other reasons. This information mainly pertains plot elements, and original character designs, that never materialized and probably will never resurface in future installments, and it varies from elements that were merely drafted out on paper, to some elements that actually made it into the game for a bit before being cut. This information has been obtained through second-hand sources by me and thus may not be entirely accurate and more along the lines of speculation of what could-have-been, but is an interesting read for those of you interested in behind-the-scenes info.
I'd like to use this part of the post to re-iterate that everything we've seen of Game Freak's development cycle, especially by the time of XY, indicates that a large amount of stuff on their end gets drafted, designed and/or iterated on first before being put into the games. Which, to be fair, is what most game companies do, butGF didn't always used to do that. That means that if you're analyzing the leaked prototypes, just because something isn't there in the prototypes doesn't mean it was never planned or never intended to be different. Just look at the DP documents and how much stuff there didn't end up making it into the final game, or how in some prototypes placeholders will get replaced by very close to final designs in just a revision's difference.
