Most Pokemon games are precious stones. Diamond, pearl, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, etc.
Gold/Silver are metals, which the colors were named after, much like Mercury was also named after silver (Quicksilver)
And now we're stuck with a shitty name because people are ignorant or make dumb assumptions
pic related. "Sage" isn't a color or plant to most people, they think of a monk, first, and then maybe the plant second.
