>>42712628Monster Crown dev, firstly I laud your approach to the anonymous public of this board. I've interacted with you briefly over on twitter, but on this board your positivity and openness truly shines. You take the cruelest of criticisms with an unflinching acceptance, and strive for personal betterment, while demonstrating self-improvement to others. Thank you!
Regarding your monster designs and the aesthetic thereof – we've all been quick to throw around names of established and recognised monster collecting RPG's [DQ, SMT, PKMN, etc], while I can see recognisable influences from these titles, what I'm really seeing here is early monster collecting miniature figurines, such as Monsters in Pocket [see pic related]. For me, this gives the project an extra dimension of nostalgia beyond the retro bitmap graphics which may be lost on younger generations, or those who missed out on growing up with Boglins and the like.
Would you say 80's and 90's monster miniature collectibles are an area of reference or influence you're familiar with or aware of? Or is this something I'm seeing and attributing to it myself?
