There is no chance the "Deceiver Pokémon" wasn't originally planned to be a Dark type. Why is Mawile Steel?
>learns twice the number of dark moves than steel by levelup
>clearly LOOKS like a dark type, with red eyes and a gaping black maw
>in ruby and emerald, (not found in sapphire because it's sableye's counterpart,) 3 out of the 4 places you can catch it are the dark caves you need flash for
>literally its entire concept and basis screams the type, with it being cruel and brutal and duplicitous
And I know you're gonna be all like,
>aaah what does duplicitous mean
and then you'll be all,
>aaah but Anon, the dex says the jaws are metal horns
but that's BULLSHIT, I tell you! Bullshit!!!! The chompers look nothing like metal whatsoever, even featuring a fleshy palate and tongue. It's painfully obvious they removed its Dark typing, then tried to justify it with a Pokédex entry.
Of all the Pokémon mistypings out there, this ones baffles me utterly. There seemingly is NO REASON for it to be Steel. What were they thinking?
