I've always felt like the day and night cycle in Pokémon is incredibly dumb and I never got why people cried about its exclusion in Gen 3.
Night time just makes the game look worse in most cases. Plus most people can only play at night anyway so you never even get to see the game during daytime.
I'd much rather the devs design each area and story event with a certain time of day in mind and implement them accordingly, like Sword and Shield did.
