>>38520540Watched it yesterday and i'd be up to reviewing it. It was very fun and awe-inspiring to see what many of us dreamed of 20 years ago: A lifelike world where humans and pokemon coexist. I was happy as fuck during the entire movie and actually paying attention to the entire fame most of the time, trying to pick up any references and pokemon sightings. But even after all that, i can't objectively say it's a fantastic movie. Maybe a 7-8/10 at the most, but I'm willing to say that if it weren't because of the novelty of the concept, i'd rate it much lower.
As previously stated, it's supremely enjoyable if you're a Pokemon fan, but i do think the lack of fights feels pretty glaring. This sometimes makes it feel more like a script that was completely unrelated to pokemon in the first place that got acquired by the company and had the pokemon added later on, which is especially noticeable in their apparent disregard for many of the core gameplay mechanics in some sequences
(WHAT THE FUCK WHERE THEY THINKING MAKING PSYDUCK KNOCK OUT THE GRENINJAS WITH A PSYCHIC ATTACK?!?! When i saw it in the theater i thought it would be a clever way to reference type advantages and immunities with them coming out unscathed, a matter that they could even address verbally, but instead they literally get knocked out by it, which really pissed me off and made it feel way less genuine)(Cont in Next Post.)
