Another way to have fun with pokemon is to battle other players. Rather, you can't claim to be "good at using pokemon" without battling. So what are the secrets to getting good at battling? Lets discuss them.
People who aren't accostumed to pokemon think its about attacking all the time.
Truly, you'll be able to win this way if your oponent is weak, but if you're a first-class battler like me you wont often use sudden attacks. In the first turn of the battle, for instance, you can use Pidgey's signature Sand Attack to lower the opponent's accuracy, or use Farfetch'd's Swords Dance to increase your attack and then finish it with Fly.
In battle, don't forget to consider your oponent's pokemon's type. For example, its not good to use Ember against a fire-type pokemon.
Speaking of types, Blizzard is convenient to freeze your oponent's pokemon, but don't accidentally use Ember afterwards. It'll melt the ice. This is the kind of thing you can only find out by battling out there. Not in a lab. Anyway, Proffessor Oak named a fire-type move Ninetales can learn ”Daimonjiyaki”. My pokemon friend in kyouto says its official name is "daimonji", so I took the liberty of changing the name(laughs). Or you can call it "bonfire" to sound like a connosieur.
(some clarification here, the move in question being discussed is "Fire Blast" which in japanese is called daimonji, which is the kanji for big , which is the one you see on its animation. Oak's proposed name, "daimonjiyaki" would be "burn of the big character", which Bill and his friend shortened.
The later one is おくりび, which a quick google search shows its another way of describing the same thing, google up further if you want to learn more).
