Once I realized I was going at a strong pace, I decided I would honor the beach episode by visiting the Dunes national park here in Indiana. This is a journey I normally do at least once a month during the warmer seasons, but this is only my second time hitting the trails this year. On a PLANNED expedition, I would have a backpack full of water bottles and snacks with me in addition to the two bottles I have hooked up to my bike, but today all I had was some greek yogurt and a handful of cashews before leaving the house. Oops!
I took a detour to crash on my dad's couch for a while. The soreness has passed, I'm feeling bold, and I'll see if I can't still make it to the shoreline before boarding a train ride home since the station is right outside of the park.
