When I tried to play BW and beat the 5th gym, I realized my team was overleveled because I had only 4 pokemon, so I looked at what was available ahead and realized that literally every pokemon available after then either was the same type as something on my team, fit a role that I already had, evolved way too fucking late, or I just didnt want to lose. There were some pokemon from earlier I might have wanted to use, but by that point they were way earlier in the game and I didn't want to go back and have to train them up, so I just stopped playing and never went back to it, even though I actually really liked it
