Gen 7 was a lot of fun, great characters, story, region and all but has the shittiest replay-ability of all the games along with other major problems.
Gen 6 was ultra comf with some of the best routes, music and pokemon designs. (and some of the worst too but every game has its flaws)
They had so much wasted potential too I'm not denying that. Horrible decisions were made but they're still decent to play through, for a pokemon game.
On the other hand, 2 and 1 feel like they are way too overrated because muh nostalgia, despite not having aged well whatsoever.
I'm not saying they are bad, I replayed them recently and got some fun out of Crystal. but I would definitely class them last in the grand scheme of things
