If you only use one or two Pokemon you'll be way overleveled and it'll be easy, but every game is like that and only retards would complain about that. If you use a full team, ignore wild Pokemon but fight every trainer, you'll be around the right level for gyms, a bit stronger than most outdoor trainers, and 5 or so levels below the Elite Four making it a challenging fight.
