Poliwhirl was supposed to wreck them but he took a critical Thunderbolt + paralysis.
Ariados was... useless. Don't even try too use if you do a gen 2 nuzlocke. (but she survived until the end)
I don't remember exactly how, but Gyarados sacrificed herself and heroically gave us a tiny chance to win. It was so small I was still desperate. But Tentacruel (shiny) took that little chance and broke that Clair bitch. Even paralyzed, she hit each turn, resisted everything and killed everything.
