Secondly, keep in mind that GF already has a defined pattern with this. As a project, we have a tendency to both stick GF's rules and patterns sometimes, and blatantly ignore them for no reason at other times. We need to be consistent, and actually think about our decisions and the impact they could have.
>In gens 1 and 2, the map didn't differentiate between towns and cities, or if they had gyms or not, and all were shown at the same size. Non flyable locations are noted.>In gen 3 RSE, towns were smaller blue dots, and cities were larger and orange, but in FR/LG, like in gen one, all the locations were shown at equal sizes at the same color: Probably because you'll note that on both RSE and FR/LG town maps, none of the city icons expanded outside of the routes. . Non flyable locations are noted ONLY in FR/LG.>In gen 4 DPPT, towns are shown in blue, cities in red, and they expand past the routes. In HGSS for Kanto, cities and towns are the same color, but cities are larger. In johto,,cities are larger, but some cities and towns are both 2x1 grids. Non flyable locations are noted ONLY in HGSS>In gen 5 and 6, towns and cities are identical on the map, and non flyable locations are noted. You will note that having a gym has never been a factor on how maps are shown on the town map, there is either no difference, or the distinction is a location being a city or a town.
