I got Cleffa and a Petilil . Pretty good method imo and I'm rushing the Alola dex now to get the charm for even easier chains.

Nope, you'll get boosted exp during a chain and that doesn't snap chains.

I'd assume you'd need to summon chain the pokemom you fished up. I was lamenting the dexnav removal but summon chaining isn't so bad.

Fishing only happens at set locations and will constantly fail or you'll reel in items so chain fishing seems ded.

It took me 3 hours and burning all my PP restoration but I did chain Cleffa summons until a shiny showed up. You start getting boosted exp and I think that's your way of knowing the chain isn't broken because it did stop and start again when I was doing it.
