>>54823933I saw the movie last week and it's visually beautiful, except for some horrible CGI in the final fight, the story is meh but with some warm scenes it's a decent 7.5. Spoilers
I was surprised by how much they took from Disney, the diaper joke, the hand sequence, the obvious villain pretending to be a friend, it is understandable that by sharing origin there are similarities, but they should have avoided these unnecessary points for the plot or given them a personal touch, not just a copy-paste.
What they did do differently is that the focus is not on Koko, he is the trigger of the plot, but the film is about fatherhood and the crossroads between being Monkey or Human is resolved almost immediately and does not have much weight, he real MC is Zarude.
Something that was criticized a lot is that the film does not have a main female character and that Koko should have been a girl, before seeing the film I was against this idea, since with a girl it would only interrupt the plot for unnecessary shipping and If both are boys would only be about action, oh surprise almost 90% of the scenes between Ash and Koko are fujoshippingpandering, Ash is literally Jane in this movie, in that case I prefer to see an Amazonian loli for the rest of the movie.
Something that the movie did very well is the ending, it is one of the best endings I have seen with an Ash's friend and that is how the rest should have been treated, just being his friend not his shadow, having their own goals and path. In other words, nice to meet you and we will meet again, this is how a Pokemon adventure should be and not the eternal format of 3-4 children traveling. It's a shame they didn't continue with this Solo Ash trilogy.Btw, the only reason I saw this was because I wanted to see Brazilian Jenny, big surprise is a Kanto Jenny with a ponytail, você é grande Brazil, at least the Jenny of Los Angeles and Montreal had a different dress.
