When I was a kid there were no guides on the internet, people didn’t even use the internet, there was nothing really to compare this game to so nobody was thinking how “buggy, slow or very graphically dated” it was. Everybody loved it. My school in 1999 even had to ban bringing Pokémon related things to school because it was getting out of hand. Not even just the games or cards, they banned taking picrel to school, that’s how much all the kids loved Pokémon.
