Are online social features causing the games to feel emptier and less enjoyable to go back to? It's like parts of the game are shutdown despite being right infront of your face.
Gen 4/5 GTS? Gone.
Wi-Fi Battle Tower/Subway? Still available locally, which is fair enough, I guess.
Wi-Fi Plaza? Those mini-games are gone. No local multi-player version. No offline version in which you can play with CPUs.
Gen V game sync / Dream World? Put to bed for good.
Join Avenue is nerfed for new visitors. You can pass people locally, but that's something people would have to setup rather than happen by coincidence.
Once people move on from XY / Gen 6, Friend Safari's are gonna go extinct. At least these remain saved to your game so long as the FC remains on your 3DS (although if you upgrade to a new one...?).
And now we've got Mirage Spots. Once ORAS streetpasses dry up, you're stuck with just the default 1 a day. Good luck getting Crescent Isle if you haven't already (...and I haven't). Not to mention the silly BuzzNav news. And Secret Bases of course.
It's like booting up PSO on my Dreamcast and playing offline. The game is still fine yet it feels empty, and somewhat depressing remembering the times spent goofing off in the lobbies, getting MOME'd, killing shit with friends. The Gen 3 games suffer from many things but not this. Going back to them still feels like a complete experience. I don't know, maybe I'm being overly dramatic/nostalgic but man. Shit's a bummer.
