Granted, it wasn't a lot, but Emerald fixed that problem and then some. Emerald, to this day, is one of the most content heavy Pokemon games out there. The only ones that beat it are D/P/Pt, HG/SS, B/W, and B2/W2, which are all considered (apart from D/P) to be the best of the best in the series.
