I think it would be cool to at least see the random variable in the damage formula removed. As it stands, the game randomly generates a number between .85 and 1 and multiplies your damage by that number, so you can do 15% less damage because you're unlucky.
Removing the random factor would mean moves with 100% accuracy could actually have the consistency that would lead someone to choosing them over higher powered moves.
I wonder if crits alone are enough of a random element to make players feel unsafe in their calculations.
