Once mega evolutions get introduced it becomes pretty bad and you will see an empty and rushed game
But they actually did put a decent amount of love into the area until the 2nd or 3rd badge
I think part why its reception is so negative is that most people remember the later part more than the early game
So yeah, worth a play, at least until the lucario tower. Definetely miles better than S/M and Sw/Sh
