It's like all the devs did was just place object spawn [pokemon] > script wander animation > add proximity script for noticing player. It's just so lazy, and it breaks immersion.
The graphics suck, but my brain can meet the graphics halfway like when I was a kid playing old consoles. The real problem is that the action of the world doesn't make up for the graphics. The NPC AI behaviours are as complicated as Ocarina of Time enemies. It's just disappointing. Doesn't make the game terrible, but it definitely doesn't shine well on GameFreak. They really do just put in a minimum amount of effort and cruise by knowing they can get away with it when millions will eat up anything with Pokemon on the box.
