When I was young, my dad probably would have led me into the back yard to catch a bird as my first Pokemon. It probably would have been a Starly, based on all the juncos and whatnot that used to frequent our feeders, and I think they look similar enough. I used to think birds were kind of boring back then, but I've since turned the corner on them, so having a Staraptor sounds about right.
Being a young, dumb child, I probably would have gone out to catch a Combee, but have been unaware of the gender differences between them, and would have ended up with a male. I would probably still love and cherish his useless ass to this day.
When I was 13 or 14, my friend and I met a mother fox and her kits. She was really happy to show them off to us, and laid down by my foot while the two little fucks romped around being goddamn adorable. If this were the Pokemon world, I like to think I would have ended up with a Vulpix that day.
I don't know if anyone here believes in ghosts, but let's just say I've seen some shit, and a Mismagius doesn't seem out of the question. The hat is what makes it a Mismagius as opposed to any other Ghost Type.
In real life, I'm a wildlife biologist. If I followed a similar path, I likely would have not caught anything else EXCEPT maybe a city-dwelling invasive species Pokemon. I would really want a Murkrow, though.
