Yokai Watch might be popular but it'll never be as popular as Pokemon in its peak. Pokemon came around a time when video games were at a peak in popularity and Nintendo was still a massive company. Most people have at least heard of Pokemon, even if they don't actually know any aside from maybe Pikachu. Pokemon was fucking everywhere back in the late 90's and early 2000's, most kids had their parents drag them to see the movie, there was shit tons of commercial and advertisement, even a show. Though all that said, most only really know about the original 151, and Pokemon seems to be finally losing its steam.
