Ok so this has been bugging me for a while now, when a trainer throws the pokeball at the start of the battle they throw it a good ~20m or so. When they return the pokemon though the ball is back in their hand without going and picking it up at all. This certainly isn't shown in the games and I don't remember seeing it in the anime so what exactly happens? Some evidence would be appreciated and also feel free to post your headcanon if you'd like to
