With 2D sprites this wouldn't be possible, as they aren't modeled on the third plane and are flat with at best an illusion of being three dimensional. Now that we use models we can see front, back, side, bird's eye, head-on, and all other angles instead of the Gen I-V boring bottom left back sprite, top right front sprite
