>>11762928From a viewpoint of my best semi pseudo psychological bullshit explanation, perhaps the experience with Rosa was just...too much? He indeed went to life and death for her, and thus the reason for her departure was even more of a blow to his state of mind. While we don't know the reason (thanks to Anon's choices and not asking her) she had to leave, its enough she HAD to, and that Nate was absolutely devastated by it. Maybe his unconscious mind put a kind of 'block' on all his joyful memories with Rosa and even the very memory of her, so that he could forget or at least not remember; thus to not let cause debilitating sorrow and regret due to those memories becoming poisonous. This kind of sorrow can cause the body to just stop functioning, so it may even be a physical defense mechanism so he doesn't die. I don't think the 'conscious' Nate remembers for this reason - he can't. However, his unconscious and 'shadow' does.
