>>52476975>It creates the impression that Cynthia was just an absolute prodigyI dunno about that, if a random-ass trainer was running around with a super powerful pokemon and was able to kick ass, I would assume it was because of the pokemon, not the trainer. If she acquired Gible through some kind of early skill or trial to prove herself or something, then sure, but that doesn't seem to be the case. If they want to show that Cynthia was a god tier trainer even as a child, they should have her curbstomp everyone with a mundane pokemon, or even a shitmon. Cynthia becoming a champion with Garchomp with her from day 1 looks more like luck than skill. Cynthia becoming champion while fielding a Bibarrel would make Cynthia feel more like a prodigy.
Look here's an example. Did you ever watch the chronicles of Riddick? Do you remember that famous scene where he says, "I'm going to kill you with my tea cup" and then he kills those guys with his tea cup? Cynthia having Garchomp from day 1 would be like if Riddick had said, "I'm going to kill you with my F-16 Fighter Jet" and then killed those guys with his F-16 Fighter Jet. It would have been retarded.
I'm too high to continue this argument
