>>36212174> New PokemonWinner: 7 by far. 6 was one of the most boring gens design wise and didn't appeal to me.
> RegionWinner: 6. Including ORAS, the game had a generally larger map with less straight routes. Urban aesthetic works neatly in Pokemon as well.
> Characters:Winner: 7 by a fucking long shot.
>Plot:Winner: 7
>Fun ValueWinner: Personally 7's totems and story made the game more engaging to me, despite the lack of dungeon puzzles. XY had an incredibly boring campaign with "bosses" that might as well have just been a pidgey holding an iron ball for the amount of threat they posed. ORAS's Secret Bases pretty much salvaged the whole game for me, and made up for the rest of the game's shortcomings, but the singleplayer was still heavily lacking in the story journey.
>OnlineWinner: 6 by an insurmountable landslide, XY introduced max convenience for online players and features like Friend Safari to work it into some single player aspects as well. The introduction of Wonder Trade as well as improvements to the GTS spoke wonders for it, as well as ORAS's Secret Bases. 7's just doesn't offer anything new that's up to par and makes it less convenient.
>ContentWinner: Eh, a toss up here, but just because of Secret Bases, 6. I liked the side content more in USUM than anything in XY, but Secret Bases held my interest more than any battle facility, online activity, or contest ever possibly could have.
Overall 7 is somewhat better to me than 6 was. I don't use the online components very much despite loving GTS negotiations in BW2, as there is no automatic random trade matchup system for succeeding gens. 7's singleplayer left a much larger impression on me despite the irritating cutscenes, and the new boss format was refreshing and interesting, along with a slew of great new Pokemon I actually wanted in comparison to the lackluster offerings introduced in XY. To be clear though, I didn't hate gen 6 though, and ORAS was very enjoyable for the bases.
