I liked the scene where the partner nearly breaks down and refuses to enter Serene because she's terrified of seeing her dad turned to stone (well, I didn't like seeing her sad, but it was a well-written scene). Similarly, walking around Lively with the sad music and the petrified NPCs was an effective way to show the stakes.
The Beeheeyem subplot was a little sloppy. He provided no proof of his trustworthiness, so I initially didn't trust him. But then the game began constantly drilling it into my head that he would betray me, so it ironically became hard to believe that, since that would be too obvious. Espurr being a double agent was a more interesting twist, but the concept was introduced suddenly and barely explored, so it didn't have much impact. But at least Ampharos got a sick burn on Nuzleaf.
Continuing on... Random Celebi was a weird addition. I wonder how many Celebi there are, because there are at least two now. Road to Primeval Forest is a cool song, and the Tree of Life has a great motif. It was nice to see the scarves in action again, but it was dumb how the Tree protected the heroes while allowing the friendly Beeheeyem to get petrified. How rude.
I remembered the sequence where the Tree flies into space and the heroes try to reach it. It was almost as stupidly hilarious as I remember--only slightly less goofy since my partner is a Froakie this time, so the insane jumping abilities make more sense now. But I have absolutely no clue how my Turtwig hero was able to catch up with her.
I also don't get why the Tree controls the rotation of the planet, nor why the planet gets pulled into the sun when it stops spinning on its axis. That's not how physics works. Maybe the idea is that Dark Matter is controlling the planet and moving it toward the sun manually?Anyway, time for the final dungeon. The first part of it has one of my favorite songs in all of PMD, so I'm looking forward to that.
