I figured a grass/water/fire type fits the idea of learning the basics, and who better to show it off than the starters - who would be most kids first Pokemon
I also tried to get starters with a variety of battling styles - Grovyle is agile and evasive, Wartortle is bulky and defensive, Braixen is a long ranged attacker.
