I'm playing through a rom version of crystal I picked up from a flea market that allows me to battle ol CAL at the viridian trainer house for Exp and cash. Since I don't mind the grind and I've got a lucky egg i decided to investigate EVs and IVs and now I'm stuck. I get IVs fine but while I understand EVs just build up from battle and get applied in level ups or from the box trick, Im completely missing how stat exp is distributed once gained. So do I need to battle and battle and then box trick my L100 to get the points? Does it need to be a single kind or will CAL with Meg, Typh, and Feral work instead of focusing on like chansey for HP? And do stats gain exp in all areas when you win or do they all get applied from the total base amount? CAL gives me enough exp to battle him 2 or 3 times before a level up but idk if that's helping or hurting stats in the long run
