Developing the chemistry of two characters depends on the main character first meeting the other character, i.e. when Ash first met Misty in the very first episode. As they traveled through two regions and Misty even appearing in the third region for a little while you begin to see the relationship between the two characters. That's why I misty has so much more potential with Ash because she knows ash like the back of her hand. Serena on the other hand was just stuffed into the series by the writers making up some stupid bullshit Pokemon camp where they say Ash had met Serena. After that Ash totally forgot about her until he saw her again in Kalos. He didn't Give a shit about her then and he surely doesn't care about her now except as a friend. Unfortunately Serenafags just love being in denial and saying that Ash and Serena are of Thing by bringing up some stupid uncanon kiss at never happened on screen. That's why I never pay them any attention because it should be obvious that Ash and Serena aren't a thing and never will be. Who knows Lillie looks like she might have a little bit of potential with Ash but so far we haven't seen anything much
