The ones being too optimistic and idealistic are those thinking that they can convince enough people to not buy the game to matter. The kind making "infographics" thinking that it'll have a lasting impact.
The fact is, normies and casuals may chime in right now, but none of them are going to actually stick to boycotting the games over such a long period of time. GF will keep revealing new stuff every 2-3 weeks like they did the last two gens and more and more people will start going "well, I guess it's not THAT bad", which is all they truly need.
This is just straight marketing.
