I was running back to New Bark Town in SoulSilver and found a shiny Hoothoot randomly in the bottom right patch of grass on Route 29. I didn't even know what a shiny was back then so I just ran away as well.
One day I will reclaim that shiny owl, just a shame it's not in any good Switch games yet (seriously, there was no good reason to exclude it from PLA).
