Y didn't clue me in until much later, when I realized that I really didn't remember anything about it. "It was bland, but tolerable," I thought.
Omega Ruby was the first time I ever felt insulted playing a video game. It's like they deliberately tried to downgrade or remove everything that was nice about Emerald. "Surely this is just because of director Ohmori," I thought.
Moon wasn't as forgettable as Y, but only because of the memes, which often highlighted the games shortcomings; the everlasting cutscenes, the gratuitous waifumons, the protagonist's dead stare, the dozens of identical Lillie assets, etc. "At least Team Skull was a nice change of pace," I thought.
Then they announced USUM, and for once I hesitated. "I'll wait this one out, see how people review it," I thought. And when the people talked of their disappointment with the so-called 'Ultra Changes', I somewhat somberly realized I had made the right decision.
Then they made LGPE. All I could think was "No."
And now here we are, with a game already subject to an alarming amount of criticism on nearly every facet, and I can't help but think, "Why did it have to come to this?"
