But being oblivious to Pikachu? His very first Pokemon? His best pal, human or otherwise? The one who tried, unsuccessfully, to steer him out of doing boneheaded things? No way!
Pikachu's eyes narrowed; there was something up, no doubt about it. And there was only one way to snap him out of it.
"I'm sorry, Ash," the rodent muttered, leaping in front of his friend. "But you've left me no choice." Sighing, the electric rodent concentrated, and he felt electricity building up in his cheek sacs. He concentrated harder, and the electricity began crackling with an even greater intensity. The electricity crackled…crackled…
…and his concentration was abruptly broken by a loud, abrasive sounding ringing through the air. Startled, the Pokemon fell over on his back, the charge dissipating.
He blinked. Was that what he thought it was?
The abrasive noise sounded out again, and Pikachu's eyes widened…then narrowed in annoyance and bemusement.
No doubt about it; that was a snore. Ash was sleepwalking. Sleepwalking! Of all the things to be doing….
Grumbling, Pikachu got to his feet and looked up. Sure enough, Ash's eyes were shut, and his mouth was open slightly. The electric mouse couldn't help but smack his forehead; why, in the name of Arceus, hadn't it occurred to him to actually look at Ash's face before trying to get his attention?
Pikachu shook his head, clearing it of these thoughts; that wasn't important right now. What was important was making sure Ash didn't hurt himself. He could just shock him and wake him up, of course, but he quickly decided against it; Ash had been just as exhausted as the rest of them. He didn't need to be woken up.
Coming to a decision, Pikachu padded over to Ash's side, once again keeping pace with him. The sleeping human, oblivious to this, continued on, walking through the hallway. Where's he going? the small creature mused.
